10.07.15 Today

Today showcase a selection of the most recent products and objects designed by Studio Fabien Cappello. In the past 2 years, the studio has been designing furniture, lightings, products for a wide range of contexts.

Taking place inside a 12th Century chapel, the exhibition is designed around a blue platform – this mega-object responds to the architectural features of the chapel and has been designed to generate a feeling of domesticity inside the vaulted space. All the objects exhibited have been carefully put together, shown and organised in regards to each-other, in order to create an inhabited environment where visitors are invited to reflects on the studio practice.

26.04.15 Streetscape – Stanley Picker Gallery

For his Stanley Picker Design Fellowship Cappello has researched the objects around Kingston town-centre. Taking into consideration the provenance, uses and contexts of the existing street furniture, in consultation with the Royal Borough of Kingston, Cappello has created a series of prototypes that aim to sit comfortably amongst what is already in situ whilst making an interesting improvement on what was previously there.

The Gallery installation includes an audio-visual collaboration with the filmmaker Rachel Davies, whilst all of the working prototypes commissioned for Streetscape will also be sited outside of the Gallery in the streets around Kingston upon Thames for the duration of the exhibition.
